The Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing wishes to confirm that the situation in Dubai, UAE and the region is calm and daily life is continuing as normal. In particular, we wish to emphasize that this applies to all aviation and tourism activities, and many visitors are currently in the emirate enjoying the start of the peak tourist season.

In Dubai, you can find people from different places and all aspect of life most of them are from Eastern Europe, Western Europe and Asia. It is the only country that has no Religion Criticism and a free country. Anyone is welcome in this country and once you will be here the government tight security assures you 100% safety.

Dubai is one of the top tourist destination in the world, it is a playground for the rich and famous, but has strict Muslim laws. You must be aware and we strongly warned you of the below:

  1. Alcohol is only allowed in licensed restaurants, pubs, clubs, private venues. And to drink at home, you must have a special alcohol license. Alcohol can only be consumed by over 21s.

  2. Drugs are strictly forbidden, and even having a residual amount in your bag or on clothing could result in a four-year jail sentence. Even if you are importing prescription drugs you may need to get permission from the UAE authorities first.

  3. Sex outside of marriage is illegal and sharing a hotel room could land you in a police cell.

  4. Holding hands is tolerated if you are married, but kissing and hugging is considered an offense against public decency.

  5. Dancing is only allowed in the privacy of your home or at licensed clubs. Dancing in public is classed as indecent and provocative.

  6. Offensive language,spitting and aggressive behavior (including hand gestures) is thought to be unacceptable. British offenders have been known to receive a six-month jail sentence for such an act and some have been deported.

  7. Drink-driving is illegal and the UAE has a ZERO-tolerance policy. Even having the smallest amount of alcohol in your system is banned. Tailgating, speeding, racing, lane jumping, or using a mobile phone while driving are also against the law. 

  8. Addressing women in public, or taking their photo without permission is strictly frowned upon and it is forbidden to take pictures of government buildings.
